Vail Resort Rentals now manages the Lift House Lodge.  The Lift House has been managed by the notorious GM, Packy Walker, for 43 years.  Packy, a locals favorite for shenanigans and good hearted entertainment, retired in April of 2015.  Vail Resort Rentals, owned by another long time Vail local, Dale Bugby, was awarded the management of the Lodge by the ownership group.  The Lift House is expected to continue to cater to the price conscious traveler with it’s charm and convenience.

Vail's 50th Birthday Celebration

Vail Mountain officially turns 50 on Dec. 15, 2012 and the resort is celebrating with a free, public, outdoor party to commemorate the resort's history and evolution into what it has become today. The celebration takes place at 5:30pm at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village and will be topped off with a culinary birthday treat and a large fireworks display.

Competitions in mixed/ice climbing, mountain cyclocross, Big Air, and dual slalom biking, Nordic and telemark skiing, ski mountaineering, and snowshoe racing. Plus, the inaguaral Seven Wonders of Vail contest - can you ski all the Back Bowls in one day?
